- Hal Higdon: Marathon Training
Hal Higdon is an American writer and runner. He has contributed to Runner’s World magazine longer than any other writer. He is the author of 34 books, including the best-selling Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide. He has worked as a freelance writer since 1959, and has written a variety of subjects including a children’s book that was made into an animated feature.
- Jeff Galloway’s Marathon Training
Jeff Galloway is a former American Olympian and the author of Galloway’s Book on Running.
A lifetime runner, Galloway was an All-American collegiate athlete and a member of the 1972 US Olympic Team in the 10,000 meters. He remains a competitive athlete, continuing through a successful masters running career. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Galloway Productions, which conducts a broad range of training programs and events yearly; he also owns two running specialty stores. He has written several books on training and writes a monthly column for Runner’s World magazine.
- Furman Institute FIRST Marathon
The Furman FIRST training programs are the most detailed, well-organized, and scientific training programs for runners that I have ever seen. For many runners, especially those hard-pressed to find time for their workouts, the Furman FIRST programs will also be the best.
- The 100 Day Marathon Plan from Dr. Marius Bakken
Marius Bakken is a two-time Olympic runner who has competed in races throughout the world. Recently, he decided to take a break from competing on an international level and pursue his life-long dream of becoming a physician so he enrolled in medical school which he completed in 2010. For two consecutive years Marius Bakken was the second fastest non-African 5k runner in the world with a 13.06.39 personal best.
