Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Washington, DC, is a part of a series of 5-kilometer run/fitness-walk foot races to raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrate breast cancer survivorship, and memorialize those who lost their battles with the disease. The first race was run in Dallas, Texas in 1983, with 800 participants. The 25th Anniversary of the Race was celebrated in 2008. In 2009, it was renamed as Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. In 2010, there were about 130 races worldwide.
Whether you’ll be challenging the lead runners or jogging at your own pace, the Susan G. Komen Global Race for the Cure™ has something for everyone.

Registration
Join the more than 40,000 participants coming together as a living testament to the power of individuals to impact the world. Participants can register as an individual, form a team or join an existing team. The entry fees is $45 (includes timing chip) for the runners and $40 for the walkers (untimed).
The registration fee includes an official Race T-shirt as well as free home delivery of the Event Kit (T-shirt and bib) if the participant has registered on or before Monday, April 29, 2013.
Route Map
Starting and ending at the Washington Monument, you’ll run a well-marked, spacious and scenic 5K route lined with thousands of cheering spectators. It’s fun, celebratory and truly inspirational.
Time Limits and Cutoffs
Only those who register as a runner will receive a timing chip in their Event Kit. An additional $5 timing chip fee is included in the runner registration fee.
Water Stops
There are 2 hydration stations along the route.
Prize Money/ Awards
Winning runners in the following categories will receive awards and recognition on the official website: Women, Women by Age, Survivors, Men & Men by Age.
