The San Silvestre Vallecana is an annual 10 km road race which takes place on 31st December in Madrid. Along with the Madrid Marathon, this race has become one of the most prestigious road races in Spain. It is has two editions, a fun run for amateur athletes and an elite race for professional athletes.

Course / Route Map
The race departs from Calle Concha Espina and passes by tourist locations such
as Puerta de Alcalá, Cibeles and the Art Walk. Athletes run from one football pitch to another, since the Teresa Rivero stadium in Vallecas, is the official finishing line for the professional race. The main part of the 10-kilometre race is not too demanding since the first eight kilometres are slightly downhill. The last two kilometres, which are mostly uphill, do require a bit more muscle training to make it to the top
