Sabarmati Marathon is Gujarat’s first ever International Marathon organised by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Ahmedabad Runners’ Club. Sabarmati Marathon, Amdavad aspires to position Ahmedabad on the world map in the field of sports. At least 7,500 people are expected to be a part of the Event. The route starts from Sabarmati River Front and ends at the Kankaria Lake Front. Sabarmati Marathon is probably the only marathon wherein organizers also run alongside the participants.

400.00 for the marathon.
Course / Route Map
The marathon is set to start and end at Sabarmati and will cover areas such as Kankaria Lake, Bhadra Fort, Siddhi Saiyeed ni Jaali, BRTS Route and more. The marathon route will not cross the Sabarmati River because of traffic issues. The runners go from Vallabh Sadan to Astodia, Geeta Mandir and Kankaria lake before coming to the western parts of the city.

8,000 register for Sabarmati marathon

AHMEDABAD: The registration for mega Sabarmati marathon has crossed the 8,000 mark, with 73 international marathon participants having confirmed their participation. The participants hail from Ethiopia and Kenya.
The event’s main highlight will be the 38 participants who will compete in wheelchairs. Thirty three 33 visually challenged participants will also compete.
Of the 8,159 participants who have registered for the Sabarmati marathon, 5,995 will go for the dream run. Another 1,695 participants will run the half marathon and 398 participants will run the entire stretch of the competition.
“Sponsored t-shirts, health drinks and other marathon paraphernalia has been arranged by us. This marathon will meet all international standards,” says a senior AMC official.
The marathon route will not cross the Sabarmati river due to heavy traffic. AMC officials said that the last time the marathon was held, the runners went from Vallabh Sadan to Astodia, Geeta Mandir and Kankaria lake before heading towards the western parts of the city. Early in the morning, Astodia and Geeta Mandir areas and even Paldi experienced heavy flow of state transport as well as luxury buses, which could have led to accidents.
