Course / Route Map

Pikes Peak Road Ascent is a 10 kilometer running event starts at the Pikes Peak Tollgate (7,750’) and ascends just beyond Crystal Reservoir (9,400’) at an average grade of 5-8%, a total elevation gain of 1,713 feet. The event is challenging due to the altitude and significant grades along the course. The first mile is steep (about a 12% grade). The third mile is also rather steep. There are some flat sections and a short (and fast!) downhill to the reservoir. Runners will go past the finish line which is just after the nice downhill section, to a turnaround point approximately 4/10 of a mile up the road, then return for a downhill finish with the amazing backdrop of Pikes Peak.
