Penang Bridge International Marathon takes place in each year in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. The starts and finish point is Queensbay Mall. For runners who would like to just try out and have fun, they can join the 10km Fun Run. The race is organized by the Penang State Tourism Development, Cultural, Art and Heritage, and sponsored by Allianz. The Course is AIMS certified. Held every year since 1985, people from all over the world come together to participate in this thrilling occasion of running across the third longest bridge in the world – The Penang Bridge, Penangites very own pride and joy.
PBIM 2013, which attracted 47,000 local and foreign runners, was recorded as the bridge marathon with the largest number of participants for the third consecutive time in the Malaysia Book of Records.

To participate in Penang Bridge International Marathon you can register in the official website. Early bird registration fees is RM60 and late registration fees is RM90. Closing date for entry is 30th September 2013 or when the limit of participants for each categories are reached.
Course / Route Map
The course goes through Queensbay – Seagate – Penang Bridge – PBSB Office – Jelutong Expressway – Macallum Street – Villa Emas – and back to Queensbay Mall. Uniting thousands of marathon enthusiasts annually, the run is well known for its captivating sight of the sunrise as it reveals the panoramic view of the “Pearl of the Orient”.
Time Limits & Cutoffs
The finish will be open for 7 hours. B-tag timimg device will be used in the marathon.
T-Shirts, Medals, Certificates
- All participants will be given a running vest each.
- Runners in all competitive categories who complete the run within the prescribed time will be awarded a Finisher Medal.
- E-Certificates available for download within 1 week after the event.
Water Stops & Refreshments
There are 16 water stations along the course. Isotonic drinks, bread, fruits and power bars will also be available at selected stations.
