The Outer Banks Marathon is an annual event on the Outer Banks of North Carolina from Kitty Hawk to Nags Head. The race enjoys excellent support from the community. The race takes place mid November and winds through the natural beauty that is the Outer Banks. Locals cheer for the runners on from the starting point to the finish line and the participants hear music, encouragement and support. All net proceeds go to charity. The events include marathon, half marathon 8k, 5K and fun run.

Course / Route Map

The Outer Banks Marathon will start in Kitty Hawk with views of the Albemarle Sound; skirt the base of the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills; traverse Nags Head Woods Maritime Forest; wind through beach neighborhoods; pass the largest sand dune on the east coast at Jockeys Ridge State Park; span the Washington-Baum Bridge and finish on Roanoke Island. Outer Banks Marathon is at sea level and the point-to-point course is mainly flat. There are two points of course elevation. The first is in Nags Head Woods Preserve around mile 12 of the marathon course. The second is crossing the 35 foot tall Washington-Baum Bridge leading to Roanoke Island at mile 23.

I was wanting to know if you have set a date for the 2014 Marathon yet? My husband and I want to sign up for it…this will be our first marathon and we want to secure the date as soon as possible. Thank You
