Maratona D'Europa

Maratona D’Europa takes place in Trieste, Italy. The event consists of three races, a Marathon, a Half Marathon, and a 7K “Bavisela” Fun Run. There are more than 12,000 participants estimated. Timing chip rental, goodie bag, pre-race bus service, finisher medal, Post race pasta party features the race.

Over 11,000 people took part in Trieste’s the great running festival, the Bavisela: next to 835 runners of the marathon, 2360 athletes raced in the Two Castles marathon on a spectacular course from Duino to Trieste. In parallel, over 7500 people took part in the 19th “Bavisela Family”, the non-competitive event with a special guest, the Olympic Nordic ski champion Gabriella Paruzzi, and the Italy’s most beloved marathoner, Stefano Baldini who gave the start and ran towards the finish line in the beautiful piazza Unità d’Italia.

Start Times

There are different start times, and different starting points, to make sure there are not too many runners on the course at the same time.

  • Marathon starts at 9.00 a.m.
  • Half Marathon starts at 10.15 a.m.

Registration

Early bird registration fees is € 38 for the Marathon. Registration is free for disabled athletesTo participate in Maratona D’Europa you can register in the official website.

Registration is possible as long as the bib numbers are not sold out:

  • on-line before May 2
  • at the Marathon Expo from May 2 to May 4

Course / Route Map & Elevation Profile

The route from Gradisca d’Isonzo to Trieste is mostly flat but it it includes some challenging hills in the middle of the course. The Marathon of Europe touches 7 municipalities starting from Gradisca d’Isonzo to arrive in the Square of the Unification of Italy at Trieste. The finish line is on Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia.

Mostly the route is flat but there are some hills near Duino. Overall, the course drops about 30 meters from start to finish.

Time Limits and Cutoffs

The marathoners shall finish the race within the time limit of 6 hrs and half marathoners within 4hrs 45’ .

Water Stops

Along the way there will be refreshments where runners will find soft drinks, energy supplements and foods. Each refreshments will be equipped with toilets and the employees will facilitate the competitors offer them drinks.

All the participants will be given Technical t-shirt (for competitive race) participation medal, massage, pasta party after the race and all finishers will be given finisher medal.
