Ladakh Marathon takes place from Leh- Manali highway, Ladakh, Jammu& Kashmir, India. The events includes a full marathon around the capital of Leh at an altitude of 3524 metres (11,562 feet.) There is also the ultra marathon, the extreme Khardung La Challenge, where runners crossed one of the the world’s highest passes 5602 metres (18,380 feet.). The Ladakh Marathon is an opportunity for runners to run in a race like no other and for their families, while runners acclimatize to the high altitude, to explore and discover a unique and ancient culture that has seen the peaceful co-existence of Buddhism, Islam and Christianity. The event is organized by Leh-based Rimo Expeditions.

Entry fees is Rs. 1000 for Ladakh resident, Rs. 2500 for Indian residents who live outside Ladakh and, US$50 for runners from outside India. To participate in Ladakh Marathon you can register in the official website. The Ladakh Marathon offers runners the opportunity to register online and in person at our Leh office if a runner is based out of Ladakh.
The Ladakh Full Marathon starts at the Petrol Pump on the Leh- Manali highway and goes past the HIMANK headquarters, the Tibetan Refugee Settlement and the Dalai Lama’s summer residence in Ladak. After Sindhu Ghat the course heads towards and through Shey Village and the famous Shey palace. Runners will go past the Druk White Lotus School and cross the Shey bridge over the Indus River to Chushot Shama. There is a flat section to Chushot Yokma and Spituk Bridge from where it is all uphill to the Petrol Pump past the Spituk monastery, Leh Airport, military base and Zorawar Fort.
