Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon is an annual foot-race run in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. The marathon was established in 2005 and has been run annually ever since. The event includes a Marathon, Half-Marathon, 4-Person Marathon Relay, 5K, and Covenant Kids Run. All races start next to the World’s Fair Sunsphere and finish on the 50 Yard Line of Neyland Stadium! This marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier.

The entry fees is $65 for the marathon if registered earlier. To participate in Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon you can register in the official website.

Course / Route Map

The Marathon course is a 26.2 mile journey through scenic Knoxville, TN.  The course has been designed to show-off Knoxville and run through several of its fine neighborhoods. The course has some hills, particularly in the first half of the marathon. The course starts in Downtown Knoxville at Clinch Ave. bridge near the Knoxville Convention Center in the shadows of the Sunsphere. The race boasts a unique finish, ending on the 50 yard line of the University of Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium.

Race Profile / Elevation Map

The course has some hills, particularly in the first half of the marathon. The total elevation change is not dramatic, but there aren’t very many miles that are just flat. As for the elevation profile the start elevation is 887 and finish elevation is 859.

Time Limits & Cutoffs

Runners must be able to complete the Marathon in 7 hours. Runners and walkers who are not able to keep the 16:00/mi pace will need to proceed using sidewalks.

Water Stops & Refreshments

  • The marathon course will feature 18 runner refreshment stations.
  • Each station will feature Powerade and Mountain Valley Spring Water.
  • There will also be four gel station serving GU (flavors: Vanilla Bean, Chocolate Outrage, and Tri-Berry) at approximately the 6.3, 16, 21 and 23 mile marks.

The temperature typically varies from 64°F to 42°F and the mean temperature is 53°F (11°c).
