Irish Sprint 10K which takes place at Prince William Forest Park, VA, is the fastest way into the Marine Corps Marathon. Run the Irish Sprint 10K to receive guaranteed access to “The People’s Marathon.” Use this 6.2-mile excuse to skip the online dash to register for the MCM and cruise into the race field without having to hit refresh once. The Irish Sprint 10K take runners on a trek of Prince William Forest Park before reaching the pot o’gold at the end of the rainbow. Runners are suppose to maintain at least a 18 minute mile pace.

Irish Sprint is a competitive 10K (6.2 mile) timed course. Prince William Forest Park is a 15,000 acre National Park located at I-95 Exit 150b, next to Marine Corps Base Quantico. The park’s 37 miles of hiking trails and 21 miles of bicycle routes traverse the largest piedmont forest in the National Parks system and the scenic Quantico Creek. The Irish Sprint 10K take runners on a trek of Prince William Forest Park before reaching the pot o’gold at the end of the rainbow

I was on the Marine Corps Marathon site today and looked at the current 2013 schedule of events and it doesn’t show an Irish Sprint – hope that changes. My sons and I really enjoyed running it this year, sort of a family event since my Mom was born on St. Patrick Day.
