MetroPCS Dallas Marathon (formerly the Dallas White Rock Marathon) is an annual race that takes place in December in Dallas, Texas, since 1971. It is a three-day, world class event with proceeds benefiting Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. An official time from the Dallas Marathon can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon. In recent years, it has included the Mayor’s 5K race, a five person relay, and a half-marathon in addition to the traditional marathon race.
The course begins and ends in Fair Park near the north end of the Cotton Bowl and runs to and around scenic White Rock Lake, with so much course entertainment that you might forget you’re running a marathon! There were 4875 finishers in marathon alone in 2012.
