Pittsburgh Great Race 10K is one of the Pennsylvania’s largest races. The race consists of the following events- 10K Run, 5K Run, 5k Walk, Wheelchair Races. The Great Race has received “green” certification from the Council for Responsible Sport – making it one of only 31 races worldwide to be honored with this prestigious distinction. Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is the sponsor of the event whose mission is to help people live longer, healthier lives is a commitment to the entire community.

Course / Route Map
The 10K course (6.2 miles) begins in Frick Park at Beechwood Boulevard. The predominately downhill course travels along Forbes Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Boulevard of the Allies before finishing in Point State Park.
Race Profile / Elevation Map
The Great Race course does contain hills, but it is predominately downhill. Miles 1 and 5 contain the most uphill sections, while miles 2, 3, 4, and 6 contain light rolling hills and downhill stretches.
Time Limits & Cutoffs
Street closings for both the 10K close at 8:30 a.m and will re-open at 10:00 a.m.
Prize Money & Awards
The Race awards medals and plaques to the top 8 males and females in the 10K. There is no prize money for the 2013 Great Race.
T-Shirts, Medals, Certificates
Top 8 finishers in both male and female category will receive medals and plaques.
Water Stops & Refreshments
There are water stops every mile for the 10k runs. At the finish bananas, water, bagels, and other treats are available.

The temperature typically varies from 11°C to 19°C and is rarely below 5°C or above 26°C.
