CVS Caremark Downtown 5K held in beautiful Providence, Rhode Island, offers a variety of events like 5K, 3K, “All Kids Can” 200M Run/Walk, and Youth Races, to suit the runners of different ages and interests. Race Director Charlie Breagy notes the race was started in 1990 by “Irish and English guys” from Providence College. An expected 7,000 total participants speak to the appeal of the CVS Caremark 5K and related events. The 5K championship categories are open to US citizens only and they must have current USATF membership.

Registration

The entry fees varies from $27 to $31 depending on the date and mode of registration. To participate in CVS Caremark Downtown 5K you can register in the official website. The online registration closes on September 11 at noon.

Course / Route Map

The race starts on Francis Street in front of the Rhode Island State House. The 5K course itself starts against the backdrop of the Rhode Island capital building on Francis Street and follows along a course downtown, along the Providence River, onto S. Main street and its stunning architecture, around the east side of the State House and back to the finish. The course is about 97% flat.
