Alexander The Great Marathon is an annual event which is held between Pella and Thessaloniki, Greece, in Mid-April.  First held in 2006, the race begins at the birthplace of Alexander the Great and finishes in what was the last capital of Ancient Macedonia, Thessaloniki. It received IAAF Bronze Label Road Race status in 2010, and it is an AIMS-certified race.

The entry fees is 50,00€ for the marathon. To participate in Alexander The Great Marathon you can register in the official website.

Course / Route Map

The race is to start from the central square of the village Pella, in front of the statue of Alexander the Great on horseback, hardly a km from the homonym archaeological site. After the first km of downhill road, the athletes get onto the Thessaloniki-Edessa highway, Chalkidona, Chalkidona, river Axios and by the village Gefyra, Agios Athanasios, Nea Agchialos, river Gallikos, Ionia (Diavata), Greek Petroleum Company, Municipalities of Eleftheriou-Kordelio and Menemeni, Monastiriou Street, Dimokratia Square (Vardari), Dodekanisou Street, Nikis Avenue, White Tower and terminate in front of the statue of Alexander the Great on horseback.

Hello

I wold really really love to run the Alexander the Great Marathon. But unfortunately it appears that you don’t give all participants a finishers’ medal. Great if this is not the case.
Everyone needs a medal for running a marathon.
