The Berlin Marathon is widely considered the fastest of the World Major Marathons. This year will be no different as several runners look to beat the long held world record marathon time. This years race is set to be a showdown for the ages. On Sunday, September 24, 2017, Eliud Kipchoge, Wilson Kipsang, and Kenenisa Bekele will toe the line and set off on what looks to be a record shattering attempt at 26.2 miles through the streets of Berlin. Eliud Kipchoge

Eliud is most known for his recent attempt to break the 2 hour marathon barrier in Nike’s “Breaking2” campaign at the Monza Race Track in Italy. He came in just shy at 2:00:25. Eliud’s most recent win came at the 2016 London Marathon.

Wilson Kipsang

Wilson is the only man to have been Eliud in a marathon and is also known for his win at this year’s Tokyo Marathon.

Kenenisa Bekele

Kenenisa is known for his debut performance at the Paris Marathon where he posted the sixth fastest debut performance ever with a winning 2:05:04. In the upcoming Berlin Marathon, Kenenisa will be the defending champion after his 2:03:03 performance in 2016.
