He won’t turn 20 until December 28, but Kenyan Eric Ndiema already has two sub-2:07 marathons to his credit.  He’s hoping for a third at tomorrow’s De Lage Landen Marathon in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

“I feel like I am in the same shape as I was in Amsterdam last year (when he ran a world junior record 2:06:07),” Ndiema told race organizers.  ”And although I didn’t go faster in Paris (2:06:37), I also learnt a lot there.”

Ndiema, who represents adidas and was fourth at last April’s Paris Marathon, is trying to shake off a poor performance at the Maratonina Città di Udine in Italy on September 23.  There, he finished nearly three minutes out of first place in 63 minutes.

“I had a problem with my right thigh a few months ago,” he explained.  ”It bothered me at the Udine Half-Marathon, but now it is better.”

Ndiema owes at least some of his success to selecting good training partners.  He’s done some of his mileage this year with two-time world champion and Olympic silver medalist Abel Kirui, and 2012 Virgin London Marathon champion Wilson Kipsang.

“I trained with Kirui a lot last winter and he gave me good advice,” Ndiema said. “This year, in the last few months, I have also been training some days with Wilson Kipsang.”

With a decent internet connection, both Kirui and Kipsang can watch Ndiema race tomorrow.  The € De Lage Landen Marathon will be broadcast LIVE at http://www.omroepbrabant.nl/Portal.aspx?type=tv with no geo-blocking, so it can be watched anywhere.  The broadcast begins at 0930 CET (0830 in London, 0330 in New York and 0030 in Los Angeles).  The starter’s gun will be fired one half hour later.

The event’s course records were both set last year by Kenyan athletes: Men, 2:05:48, Chirchir Kipchumba; Women, 2:24:33, Georgina Rono.  A relatively small marathon, last year’s race had 1278 finishers.
