Ortholite: Merrell shoes are made up of ortholite insoles. OrthoLite foam insoles are made with open-cell foam, allowing air to circulate around the foot, keeping the foot cooler inside. The unique spring-back technology helps the insole to retain over 95% of its thickness over time and the open cell structure of OrthoLite creates a moisture management system inside the shoe by moving moisture away from the foot leaving foot drier. When the foot is removed from the shoe any remaining moisture dries very quickly due to the airflow allowed by the open cell network in the foam. It contains a patented anti-microbial formulation to combat fungus, bacteria, and odor in the shoe. 

AEGIS Microbe Shields: Merrell shoes comes with AEGIS microbe shields. The active ingredient in the AEGIS Microbe Shield products forms a colorless, odorless, positively charged polymer that molecularly bonds to the treated surface. Unlike chemiclas that can wear down or produce resistant super bacteria, Aegis never wears out despite of repeated washings, and doesn’t harm the environment.

Vibram: Merrell equip all their multi-sport and hiking shoes with Vibram outsoles. Vibram does the best job of creating lug soles that provide stability in all conditions, with no lugs placed under the arch, so the foot flexes naturally for increased comfort. “Lug soles” are a type of outer sole found on heavy-duty and utility shoes such as hiking boots or work boots. They have created two advanced rubber compound- Trek and TC5+ which provides better traction on both wet and dry surfaces in the most extreme conditions.
