OAKLAND, Calif. – (September 7, 2012) - Corrigan Sports Enterprises, the owners and operators of the Oakland Running Festival, will host the inaugural Hella-Ween 5-Mileron Saturday, October 27 at 5:30pm in Old Oakland. A portion of proceeds will benefit Running For a Better Oakland.

“This run will allow people to show off their creative side with a fun costume contest, as well as see parts of Oakland that aren’t featured on the various ORF courses,” stated race director Gene Brtalik.

The Hella-Ween course begins and ends in Old Oakland on 9th Street before heading through the Jack London District towards West Oakland and then a quick u-turn and run past the Linden St. Brewery. From there runners will begin their journey uptown and make their way to West Grand and then Telegraph as they pass the famous Fox Theatre. After that, it’s past City Hall around City Center and the Marriott before returning to Old Oakland.

Each runner will receive a reflective t-shirt, food, water and two free beverages. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, both individually and as a group.

Sign up before September 10th and save $14 off the price. The race also serves as a five-month kickoff to the 2013 Oakland Running Festival, which takes place March 24.

Old Oakland restaurants will be offering discounts to participants and several live bands will be on hand to celebrate the evening.
