Walmart To Sponsor 2013 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon, Online Registrations Open
For the fifth year in a row, Walmart will be the presenting sponsor of the 2013 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon. Registration for the 2013 races, which will be held on Saturday, April 27, opens online on Aug. 1 atwww.derbyfestivalmarathon.com. Early registration fees are $55 for the mini and $70 for the Marathon through Oct. 31. More.
EMARC To Host 18th Annual 5K Road Race On Sept. 9

East Africans Runners Won Lots Of Medals In Olympic Distance Races
How dominant have East African runners been in modern Olympic distance races? Our man in London, otherwise known as Amby Burfoot, has crunched the numbers for the last six Olympics, and found that in the four longest running events (steeplechase, 5000 meters, 10,000 meters and marathon), runners representing East African countries (primarily Kenya and Ethiopia) have won 47 of 72 possible medals.
