For any athlete or long distance runner, a GPS watch is a must to measure and track the distance, pace and speed on their runs. Infact, today’s generation have become so comfortable with GPS that it’s there on almost all the gadgets. Soleus is entering the GPS market with their brand new GPS 1.0 Digital Sport Watch. At $99, it is one of the smallest and lowest priced product in this category.
Soleus GPS 1.0 Digital Sport Watch
New Soleus GPS 1.0 is an easy and simple digital sports watch which has everything that a runner needs. With auto lap splits at every mile, it is easy to
use and accurately measures the speed, distance and pace of the runner. The night light mode helps for the late night training. This Soleus GPS 1.0 watch knows exactly where to find the same global positioning satellites orbiting miles above the Earth that are going to help navigate the run.
The Soleus GPS 1.0, one of the smallest GPS watches around, tracks distance, pace and speed through its built-in GPS technology. It looks like a traditional runners watch with traditional features and functionality. The basic features of the watch are listed below.

The look and feel of the watch is quite nice. It is a thick but compact watch with a simple and nice design. It looks like a normal watch. The strap of the watch is a bit stiff. Display size is 1.0″ x 1.0″ (2.5cm x 2.5cm) in diameter, unit dimensions are 1.75″ x 2.5″ x 0.75″ (4.4 x 6.4 x 1.9 cm), and it weighs 2.1oz (59.5g).
The best feature is its compact design which makes it one of the smallest GPS watches in the market today.
Strengths
One of the biggest strengths of the Soleus GPS 1.0 besides the obvious low price point of $99 is it’s accuracy and simplicity. It has been tested against the competition such as Garmin and proved to be very accurate. It’s also very easy to use. You simply go outside and press the GPS button and within a few minutes you are ready to begin your run.
Limitations
The biggest limitation of the Soleus GPS 1.0 is that it currently has no mechanism for uploading data to a computer and and limited data field options on the watch face. This may be a drawback for people who upload all their workouts – doing manually gets old quick. However uploading support should be coming soon, of course at additional cost but should still probably cost less compared to other GPS watches available in the market.
Packing
The unit comes in a small and tidy yellow and black box which includes:
- GPS 1.0 Digital Watch
- USB charging cord
- Owner’s manual
Basically out of the box comes the watch, a USB cord for charging only, setup instructions, and warranty info.
Price
If you’re thinking about getting a GPS watch and don’t want to break your bank, try the Soleus GPS 1.0. It is priced at a meager $99. You can find Soleus GPS 1.0 on the Soleus website. Locate a store in your city and place an order.
Summary
Overall Soleus GPS 1.0 is a simple but impressive, decent priced and high performance digital watch. Compact design with good battery life. Night mode which lights up automatically at each split and accurate readings make it a
perfect watch for runners. Of course it has the weakness of inability to upload data/share activity to a computer, and limited data field options but all you need in a GPS watch is to measure how far you ran and what your average pace was, then this watch is a fine choice.
Soleus GPS 1.0 is a watch of great value and since runners asked for the GPS, they gave them GPS.
