In February 2011, The Boston Athletic Association announced new qualifying times for the famed Boston Marathon. Not only are the times lower, but there is a rolling registration: The fastest runners get in first with registration staggered over a few days. Even if you have a Boston qualifying time, it doesn’t guarantee a Boston Marathon race number. More.

The Marine Corps Historic Half marathon and Dominion Virginia Power invite runners to “take a leap” on Wednesday, Feb. 29 and register for the Historic Half with a chance to win an exclusive prize package. One lucky runner registering that day for the Historic Half will be randomly selected as winner of the leap day prize package. More.

Register For Air Force Marathon before Mar. 17 To Win All-Access Prize Package

Anyone registering for the Air Force Marathon before March 17, 2012, will be automatically entered to win an All-Access Prize Package. The 16th annual race, which takes place Sept. 15, includes a full marathon (26.2 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 10K race (6.2 miles). A 5K race (3.1 miles), hosted by Wright State University, will take place Sept. 14. More.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Providence Half Marathon – Registration for TourPass

Registration for TourPass will launch on Thursday, March 1st. In 2012, participants may register for one or more events beginning with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Providence Half Marathon through the Latin Music Miami Beach Half Marathon for $299, plus a one-time processing fee. Online Registration Deadline For Honda LA Marathon Is Mar. 9
As the clock ticks closer to the start of the 2012 Honda LA Marathon on March 18th, another clock is winding down: online registration — and the current pricing that goes along with it — will close on Friday, March 9th. After that, runners will not be able to sign up again until the Expo on March 16th and 17th, and will pay a higher registration fee. More.

Registrations Now Open For Oxford Half Marathon
REGISTRATION is now open for the Oxford Half Marathon and Oxford-based charity Helen & Douglas House has been named the event’s charity partner. Up to 6,000 runners are expected to hit the streets on Sunday, October 14, after the first event last year was hailed a success by organisers. Early-bird places are £26 for affiliated runners or £28 for non-affiliated runners. More.

Hurtado wins Tri-Cities Half Marathon
Richland’s David Hurtado won the inaugural U.S. Running Association’s Tri-Cities Half-Marathon on Sunday, finishing with a time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 10 seconds. Yakima’s Erica McElrea was the overall women’s champion, finishing in 1:27.49. More.

Sammy Kitwara, Vivian Cheruiyot Win World’s Best 10K
Kenya’s Sammy Kitwara prevailed at the World’s Best 10K last Sunday in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Accordingly, his winning time was 28 minutes and five seconds, which was the slowest winning time since 2008. In the women’s division, Vivian Cheruiyot ran a personal best to win in 30:47. Her time was the fourth-fastest in the history of the race. It was also the fastest time raced since 2004. More.
