Robin Hood Marathon Has Been Cancelled
All is not well for runners in Sherwood Forest. England. For the first time in 30 years, the annual Robin Hood Marathon will not take place. It doesn’t have anything to do with Robin Hood’s arch nemesis, the Sheriff of Nottingham. Instead, blame traffic. Organizers have stated that the 26.2-mile route is just not safe anymore. More.

Brycen Spratling of the University of Pittsburgh has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after setting a collegiate record in the 500-meters Saturday at the Big East Conference Championships. Spratling entered the weekend having only ever run one 500m race; however, he excelled at the distance and clocked a quick 1:00.63 to set a new collegiate record and claim the top spot on the current world list. Two recent Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon champions will return to the 34th edition on Sunday, March 4, 2012 determined to leverage their experience on the fast and scenic course through the Napa Valley wine country into repeat victories. 13th Annual Edge-To-Edge marathon To Be Held On Jun. 10
Coordinators met to begin preparations for the 13th annual Edge-to-Edge marathon. Tofino is about 42-kilometres from Ucluelet. At 8: 30 a.m. on June 10, about 600 runners will begin pushing the pavement from Tofino’s skate park towards Ucluelet’s district office. More.
Pat’s Run Registrations To Fill Early
More than 10,000 people have registered as of this week for the run, which honors Tillman, who died at age 27 in 2004 while serving in Afghanistan. Attendance at the event, including participants and volunteers, has risen from 5,000 in 2005 to 35,000 for last year’s seventh edition of the run. More.
