In the first half marathon of her career and only the second race of her life of at least half-marathon distance, Grandville High School junior Carlie Snoap, 16, won the championship earlier this month in the girls 14-17 age division at the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in Orlando.
A member of the Bulldogs girls cross country team, Snoap ran the Fifth Third River Bank Run last spring, which is a distance of 25 kilometers or 15.5 miles.
Snoap was clocked at 1 hour, 34 minutes, 12 seconds in the 13.1-mile course that runs through the Magic Kingdom and Epcot theme parks at Walt Disney World.
