WHILE controversy raged at the all-male shortlist for BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, Melton triathlete Lynn Hodgkinson has staked a claim for sportswomen on the other side of the world.
And having swum, cycled and ran her way to the world championships, wearing the black of her adopted homeland, the former John Ferneley and King Edward VII School pupil was named the King Country and Otorohanga Sports Personality of the Year at a glitzy ceremony earlier this month.
While the awards were at a district level, picking up the honour was no walk in the park, sharing it with young All Black Rory Grice.
