The founders and local organizers of the Ironman Ireland 70.3 International Triathlon have released the contents of an Economic Impact Study which shows that the event has generated over €10 million.

Among some of the notable highlights is the fact that around 20,000 spectators spent €4,427,286.40 in Galway city during the event, while 98% would recommend Galway as a holiday destination and 96.8% confirming they would return to the city based on their positive experience.

In the triathlon world the event has been seen as a huge success, with the event having been the largest year one Ironman event in Ironman’s 30 year history and is now firmly positioned as the second largest Ironman 70.3 in the world, which is an incredible feat in its first year.
