Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has dumped the idea of roping in an event management company for organising the Sabarmati Marathon on December 25.
On Sunday, the AMC launched a website for registration of participation for the upcoming marathon, which is to be organised on December 25. The civic body’s terms with its event partner were soured over certain issues including revenue sharing. This may have led the civic body to organise the mega event on its own.
The civic body expects the number of foreign participants to double this year. While last year’s marathon had around 25 foreign participants, this time it expects to reach 50. “We have already received email confirmation from 39 elite runners from Kenya and Ethiopia and a few more are expected,” said sources close to development.
