The 2nd Shimla Running and Living Half Marathon would be held on 26th September 2010. This was disclosed by Shri V.C. Pharka, Principal Secretary, Youth Services and Sports in Shimla today. He said that the event was being organised by Running and Living Infotainment, Delhi and the State Department of Youth Services and Sports jointly. He said that people from within and outside the State would participate.
He said that the theme for this year’s event is ‘Enjoy the Natural and Healthy Bounty of Shimla.’ He said that an apple would be given to every finisher and almonds would be provided along the route for energy and a crate of apples would be given as prizes to the first three finishers. He said that the run would go past several of the iconic buildings such as Gorton Castle, Institute of Advanced Studies, Army Heritage Museum, Oakover and more- runners start and finish at the Ridge, which would give tourists ample a peep into the glorious past of Shimla.
Shri Pharka said that registrations was open and online at http://runningandliving.com/shimlahalfmarathon/ and registration at Ashiana Restaurant at the Ridge and Himalayan Motorsports at Navbahar had already been opened on 10th August and would close on Sunday 29th August,2010.
Shri Subashish Panda, Managing Director, HP Tourism Development Corporation said that 30% discount would be provided to the participants on stay at HPTDC hotels in Shimla.
Shri J.R. Katwal, Director, Youth Services and Sports hoped that this event would act as a platform for local talent of Himachal Pradesh to test themselves and progress to the national and international stage.
