Nachiket, my understanding is that a half marathon certificate under 3 hours is sufficient for qualifying for the full marathon. I have never run a full marathon before myself, and have attached my half marathon certificate.

In terms of getting stuck, phone number can be an issue. The site, at least when I registered, was not accepting a mobile number (so I put my land line) and not accepting + and other symbols for the phone numbers. Besides the browsers, try to play with the phone numbers.

Hi Tanvir. I was planning to come for a vacation and to visit friends around the beginning of the year. Then I learned that the marathon was approximately the same time. I thought it would be an interesting adventure -- though I'll have to train here in the snow in December to stay in shape after the Chicago Marathon in October...

Also, I have an idea to write an article about the experience. Runners, running clubs, races, etc., are common here in the US, but I have no idea about India. I thought it would be interesting to learn and compare. Also, if the marathon in Chandigarh goes off on time, I may go to that one as well.

Re: the Hindi -- I like trying to learn languages before traveling, so I was learning Hindi much like the Spanish I learned before visiting Spain. It's unnecessary, but a lot of fun.

Nachiketa, I doubt if the half cert can be used for the full (though I believe they should seriously consider accepting that). I suggest you go for Full, upload this cert anyway and let them decide. If not, you go through the ballot anyway. As for the upload, I had same issues with my Chrome, and moving to Firefox fixed it. Try different browsers. I am hearing of issues with IE.

Hi Tanvir,

Your site and blog are a great source of inspiration for us. I had two queries regarding the registrations for SCMM 2011:

1) I have a timed certificate for a half marathon for 2 hrs. Can i use this to get into the full marathon or would i have to register for the half?
2) When do we have to upload the certificate? I did not get to the page where i can do it.

Thanks
Nachiketa

You are welcome, Kirk. My hunch is that most of the people applying for the full marathon will make it through the ballot, so all the best. So, what brings you here, just the marathon, or your encounters with Hindi?

Hi Tanvir. Thanks for all of the updates on the marathon -- very, very helpful. I registered today, but my last marathon was five years ago so I'm waiting in the general pool. We'll see what happens. Perhaps I'll see you there -- good luck with your training.
