After the successive hectic marathon weekends coming in rapid succession, the big ones, Boston, Paris, and London Marathons really dominated the headlines for the past few weeks. That however surely does not mean that the marathon season is coming to an early end. On the contrary, the upcoming weekends are packed full of action from around the world, maybe not at the scale of the big 5, but upcoming ones with great potential. It is also time for the smaller distance races like the popular 5Ks and 10Ks to grad the headlines. Here are some of the weekend marathon action we can look forward to:
New Jersey Marathon
Runners will enjoy an exciting 2-loop course through the diverse neighborhoods and business districts of the Host City, Long Branch, and neighboring Monmouth Beach and Oceanport. This event is part of the 14th Annual New Jersey Marathon Festival. Saturday May 1st will have several small distance races, while the marathon and half marathon occupy the prime Sunday spot. Live video of the marathon will be streamed on May 2nd at NJDiscover.com. In all, 10,000 participants have registered for the various runs, a new record.
BMO Vancouver International Marathon
This marathon offers a fast marathon course, attracting both elite and recreational runners and walkers, and is one of Canada’s largest marathons. The event has been in existence since 1972. The organizers are expecting about 14,000 runners for the 2010 event with the prime runs being the marathon and the half marathon.
Sao Paulo International Marathon
This event is the 26th edition of the marathon. Race day will have the following runs – Marathon, 25K, 10K, and 3K.
