IAU 24-Hour Run World Championship 2010

The IAU 24-hour World Championships run has just finished in Brive, France. The event was won by Shingo Inoue of Japan with a total of 273.5KM covered in 24 hours. The great American ultra runner, Scott Jurek finished second with 266KM, just 7KM short of the Japanese runner. Ivan Cudin of Italy was third with 263.5KM.

In a race which was really a breakthrough race for the podium finishers, Inoue broke the Japanese record for 24 hours. Jurek beat the existing American record of 260KM in the process, while 3rd placed Cudin broke the European record. The IAU 24 Hour Run World Championship takes place on a loop course which is 1.25 km long, and is half pavement and half packed dirt. This years race saw about 150 runners taking part.
