Gebrselassie wins again at Great Manchester Run

It was a familiar story at the 2010 Great Manchester Run, with a lot promised, and little delivered. The last couple of years have seen a number of runs from legend Haile Gebrselassie where all the talk before the race is of breaking the world record, and after the run, well, things do not go exactly to the plans and there are always some explanations about the weather, etc. This time it was the wind.

That however takes nothing away from the fact that Gebrselassie won the 2010 edition of the Great Manchester Run with consummate ease, winning in a time of 28:02, never seriously challenging the world record time of 27:01 by Micah Kogo. This was Gebrselassie’s third consecutive win at the event.

With 36,000 participants, the Great Manchester Run is one of the biggest 10K runs in the world, and an IAAF Gold Label Road Race event.
