A new 12K world record was made at the 99th ING Bay to Breakers 12K, which is one of the world’s largest runs. Lineth Chepkurui of Kenya won the race in a time of 38:07 to break her own world record which she had set just two weeks ago at the Lilac Bloomsday run.
In the men’s race, it was defending champion Kenyan Sammy Kitwara, who won the race in 34:15 to out duel countryman Peter Kirui, just pipping him at the finishing line.
