London Marathon 2010 Results

Tsegaye Kebede of Ethiopia has won the the Men’s Marathon here at the 30th edition of the Virgin London Marathon. The Olympic and World bronze medalist improved upon his 2nd place finish from 2010. Kebede put up the surge at 35KM and that really split up the field with only Kirui being able to follow before losing out to Emmanuel Mutai and Jaouad Gharib who finished 2nd and 3rd.

Halfway mark was reached in 63:06. The first real shakeup in the race happened at 25K which was started by Emmanuel Mutai. Big names like defending champion Sammy Wanjiru, Duncan Kibet, and Zersenay Tadese could not follow that break and were gone.

Liliya Shobukhova of Russia won the women’s marathon in a time of 2:22:04.  Shobhukhova improved from her 3rd place finish here in London in 2009.  This is her second big triumph since 2009 when she won the Chicago Marathon.

A record 37,527 runners had registered to run at the 2010 London Marathon, a first in its 30 year history.
