Wilfred Kigen of Kenya won the Hamburg Marathon after overcoming the challenge of Norway’s Urige Arado Buta in a sprint finish. In the women’s marathon, it was another Kenyan Cherop Sharon who won the race ahead of Eshetu Degefa of Ethiopia in 2:28:38.
