2nd international marathon at Nagpur saw a reported 80,000 participants on the various runs on day (give or take a few tens of thousands 
). It was also reported that the winners said that they prefer Nagpur over Mumbai due to the weather, go figure.

Nagpur is very hot in summers, but Jan weather is much better than Mumbai. I can tell since I am from Nagpur and ran the Full Mumbai Marathon 2010 as well.
