Augustine Rono of Kenya won the 8th edition of the Chennai Marathon in 2:14:45, organized by SDAT, a remarkable time considering the hot and humid Chennai conditions. The margin of victory was a remarkable 13 minutes, but not too surprising since the second placed runner was from India, Santosh Kumar, who finished in 2:27:25. What was surprising was the limited international field, the organizers probably just get a few athletes to highlight the international aspect of the event in the media rather than making it a real international quality event.
