Looking back at 2009 Running Goals

2009 - The year in Running

Before I launch myself into the new year, I think it is a good time to reflect at the year gone by, quickly revisit the running goals I had set for myself for 2009, and see how did I do. So, here’s a recap of the goals I had set in my first post in 2009.

  1. Run at least 3 marathons (42K). The 3 possibilities I see for 2009 are as follows. Mumbai marathon in Jan, Running and Living Gurgaon marathon in Feb, and Mawana Sugars Indian Open marathon in Dec. – DONE (Mumbai + Gurgaon + Gurgaon)
  2. Do a sub 5:00 marathon, possibly at the Running and Living Gurgaon marathon in Feb.– DONE (+1)
  3. Do a sub 2:00 half marathon at next ADHM. – NOT DONE
  4. Run the Bangalore Ultramarathon (75K) in Nov – NOT DONE

So, I was able to achieve a couple of goals, and the other two were missed, primarily because of injuries I suffered just before the Delhi Half Marathon. Overall, I am satisfied with whatever I achieved. In fact I did a couple of sub 5 marathons, both at Gurgaon in 2009. There was no Mawana this year though due to schedule changes. In one of the upcoming posts, I will take a look at what 2010 might have in store for me.
