Chandigarh Marathon 2010 on Jan 31

The first Running and Living Chandigarh Marathon is to take place on Jan 31st in the beautiful city of Chandigarh. The run is being organized by Chandigarh Administration in partnership with Running and Living Infotainment, who have done a fantastic job of organizing marathons in various cities in North India, including Gurgaon, Shimla, and another one coming up soon in Noida as well.

Race Route

The race features a scenic and picturesque route which starts from Rock Garden,  runs via beautiful gardens, flat wide roads, past the Rose Garden, past a Lake, Two Governors’ Raj Bhawans, and through a Golf Course. See route map below:

Timing Chip

The race is being timed using a timing chip as well for which a refundable deposit of Rs 200/- will be charged.

Race Registration and Entry Fees

Registration for the event can be done online from the event registration page. Race entry fees are Rs 500/- for the Marathon, Rs 400/- for the Half Marathon, and Rs 100/- for the 5K run. People can also register at the following locations:

Prize Money

The event will see participation of top runners from India and some international athletes as well, and has really good prize money by Indian standards. Winners of Marathon and Half Marathon get Rs 1.5 Lakhs and 0.75 Lakhs respectively, with overall prize money of the order of 5.85 Lakhs, including prize money for top-10 finishers.
