The results are quite a contrast for the Men’s and women’s event, the men’s being completely dominated by the international runners, while the national Chinese runners totally dominating the women’s events, probably due to lack of quality international participation. For the record, the womens marathon record is in the range of 2:15, and this was more than 19 minutes off that, simply too huge, while the men were about just 4 minutes off. I guess this one must be a tactics of the organizers to balance things out, trying to retain the IAAF Gold Label for the race with great timings in the Men’s, and then compensating it in the women, just a guess.
