Amsterdam Marathon 2009 Results: Yegon wins in 2:06:19

News just coming in for the 34th Amsterdam Marathon. Kenyan runner Gilbert Yegon won the mens marathon in a fast 2:06:19. This was the debut marathon for the 21 year old Kenyan! Looks like he has a great career ahead of him running marathons. He also broke the course record of Haile Gebrselassie by 2 seconds. Kenyan runners Elijah Keitany (2.06.42) and Paul Biwott (2.07.02) were 2nd and 3rd.

Amongst the top finishers from Netherlands, Koen Raymaekers was the first in 2.13.00, winning the national title, and finishing 13th in the process. Hugo van de Broek (2.13.25) and debuting in the marathon Patrick Stitzinger (2.15.01) were the other leading finishers.

Ethiopia’s Eyerusalem Kuma won the women’s title in 2:27:43.
