Pattaya Marathon 2009 Results: Another Kenyan sweep

July 19, 2009

Pattaya is one of the famous beach resorts in Thailand, 150km south-east of Bangkok, known for its beaches, cuisine, and nightlife. I think this is one of those marathons for the tourists (like the Phuket marathon), though it does offer the prize money to attract the Kenyan second or third rung of runners. Great to see a local actually winning the Women’s race even with the Kenyans around! Check out some nice photos of the event at pattayaunlimited.com

Championchip timing results of the event can be found below (Marathon and Half Marathon). In fact, the below website has results from a lot of marathons and other runs in Thailand in a easy to browse list:

Here’s a video of the start of the event from YouTube. The video lasts about a minute, and all starters cross the starting line in that time, so probably not too many participants:

@Anon: Thanks for pointing out. I think Sunisa ran an amazing race to leave the other Kenyans behind! My comment mostly reflected that a majority of the top-placed runners were from Kenya.

Thanks for posting these results. However, "Another Kenyan Sweep" is a bit misleading, as SUNISA SAILOMYEN, from Thailand, won the women's race! Go SUNISA!
