and close August 18th (or as soon as running places are filled, whichever is earlier). I know last year many of us were left out just because we thought that things don’t work like this in India. Well, now we know, they do.

Update (July 21): Registrations for Half Marathon and Dream Run (open category) closed. Wow, that happened pretty fast! Just the 42K left now.
Update (July 9): Registrations Open. For Online Registration click here.
So, if you are thinking of running the Mumbai marathon on Jan 17th, 2010, be ready on July 9th, because, there is going to be a mad rush for registrations, and the 42K and 21K seats are going to run out fast, India is really running!
I remember, last year there were lots of runners from Delhi, and from our Delhi Runners group, and the Running and Living folks. Lets party at Mumbai coming year too!
Note: Entry fees raised to Rs 500/- (including cost of disposable championchip). There is also news to the effect that 2010 Mumbai marathon route may use the newly inaugurated over the sea link between Worli and Bandra. Now, won’t that be fun? Here’s what Race Director Hugh Jones had to say about the sea link…
“There’s something about running besides open water that’s very appealing. We will look at the best possible way to integrate this new feature into the race route besides taking advantage of the outstanding views of the city skyline available from it.“
Another news, like last year where they had an early start of 6:40 am for the non-elite runners (elite start was 7:30 am), this year is will also see an early start (though the exact timings are yet to be confirmed). I had thought we would not see an early start this year, with the way the elite runners were disrupted in their running when they caught up with us early starters, they simply had to wrestle their way through the mass of people. All elite runners except those in the lead pack had to suffer that fate, and I am sure this did not go unnoticed. Maybe the organizers will handle this better this time.
Have fun!

That would be cool.
Very few sites have complete info about Mumbai Marathon 2010. Tried to find info here http://mumbaimarathon.indiatimes.com/impdates.html but seems as if this is also incomplete and seats are running out fast………now people are crazy bout Marathons
@movies: well, Mumbai marathon seats run out real fast. Dream run and Half marathon were gone in 2 weeks and Full marathon in 3 weeks, much before the last date of Aug 18th!
Well the official Mumbai Marathon site on Indiatimes is really pathetic – half the links end at a dead page that says "Coming soon…". I was waiting for the race routes and start timings to be announced, based on which I would have made a decision whether or not to enter the full marathon or the half marathon. Putting in an entry for both was a bit steep at 500 bucks each. But lo and behold – before any information was put up, entry to all races is full!!
The organizers really need to get their act together as far as keeping the website updated is concerned. It really is an essential part of the organization process and lack of information here takes something away from making it a truly world class event. And they've had seven years of experience!!
One critical suggestion: The start times of the two longest races – full and half marathons – needs to be as early as possible, to take advantage of the cooler weather. Both races should therefore have the same starting point, but different routes and ending points, and both should start at 6.00 am, or 6.30 am at the very latest if the organizers want natural light for the TV coverage.
This is the only fair way to conduct both races. Otherwise the full marathoners have ended up completing the race in blazing heat after 10.00 am – everyone knows that winter in Mumbai is not really cold at all!

@JayKayEss: I agree, most of the marathon websites here are really poorly designed with a lot of missing info at event launch. But registrations running out so soon was completely expected, this happened last year too.
We would all love to have the race start earlier, but as far as the organizers go, they would probably want more people to watch on primetime television, which means late start. Thats so sad.
