New Vodafone Delhi Half Marathon (2007) route

October 7, 2007

VDHM has launched a brand new route for this years event (out and back course, not loop), and I might add that this looks very interesting, and certainly more welcome that the route from previous years. It now starts from near Nehru park in Chanakyapuri, goes around the Safdurjung airport area, next passing near Lodi gardens, on to India gate, towards Janpath, and back from Windsor place. I still see a flyover around Aurobindo Marg.

So overall, more running under shade, later in October than previous years. I am excited.

I hope they start the race a bit earlier too, last few years have seen starts at 7:30 am.

Deepti, 7km is a great start. The most important thing for you is probably to practice regularly for this, and you will be much less anxious before the run, and much more satisfied after it. All the best!

Well, I dont think anything special needs to be done for this. Just reach the place on time for the run and you should find people who will be managing the run.

It should definitely start at around 6.30 am so that most of the run is during the cooler hours..I remember the stretch at Rajpath during last yr’s run when the sun came straight onto the face..
BTW..yesterday I saw a practice run by Jindal Stainless ( Associate Sponsor’s of VDHM)with runners taking the road loop around Nehru Gardens..the 15K practice run on 14th shall also in all likelihood be on roads as well.
